The US and China have agreed to resume trade talks, easing a long row that has contributed to a global economic slowdown.

Donald Trump, US President and Xi Jinping, China’s President, reached an agreement at the G20 summit in Japan.

Trump mentioned that he would allow US companies to continue their trade with Chinese tech giant Huawei, which many believe is a step in the right direction.

Trump earlier threatened additional trade sanctions on China but rolled back oh his plan after the meeting on the sidelines of the main G20 summit in Osaka.

The first man said the US would not be adding tariffs on $300bn (£236bn) worth of Chinese imports and would continue to negotiate with Beijing “for the time being”.

To this end, US technology companies can now sell to China’s Huawei – effectively reversing a ban imposed last month by the US commerce department.
