Lagos Guber: PDP Drops Agbaje, Adopts Gbadamosi of ADP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos has dropped it’s governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje and drum support for Babatunde Gbadamosi of the Action Democratic Party (ADP).

The opposition party took the decision alongside the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Wednesday during a Press Conference at Protea Hotel in Ikeja Lagos.

WAILERSNG.com gathered that the leadership of both ADP and PDP have agreed to work under one accord as Gbadamosi seems to stand a better chance of winning the election.

It was also learnt that the elders in PDP took the decision in the best interest of the party and it’s members, and have sent communique to all Local Government and Ward branches of the party of the new development.

In a statement released and made available to AIG Media Pro, both parties unified their decision on their preferred choice of candidate for the 2019 governorship elections.

The statement reads, “All protocols duly observed, you all will recall that the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) was formed by well meaning national chairpersons of political parties in Nigeria, including the PDP and many others, ostensibly to provide a common front capable of defeating the extreme right wing elements masquerading as progressives within the APC, who were fortunate to hijack the reigns of power after the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The outcome of the presidential election has further confirmed the fears of Nigerians for the future unity and well-being of the nation under our present crop of leaders.

“In appreciation of these fears, 35 political parties under the CUPP met and agreed to put resources together to ensure a break from the past 20years. To this end, we have determined to endorse Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi of the ADP as our consensus GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE OF LAGOS STATE for the 2019 elections.

“We are convinced that his passion to make Lagos state achieve her potential is second. His manifesto is as forward looking as it is practical and realistic.

“Moreover his election shall make him the first indigenous Governor of the state in the past 20years. We urge every well meaning Lagosian to vote the ADP candidate, Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi as the next Governor of Lagos state.”
