Women in Politics (WIMPOL2019), an event centered around the involvement of women in politics, had female candidates aspiring for one position or the other under different political parties in attendance.

The aim of the program was to encourage women to support each other and to get more women actively involved in politics.

The event was graced by many female candidates with Khadija Abdullahi (Alliance for New Nigeria Vice presidential candidate), Tolulope Akande-Sadipe (APC House of Representatives candidate), Lara Adesanya (Providence People’s Congress Lagos gubernatorial candidate), Oluyemisi Haleemat Busari (PDP Lagos state deputy governor candidate) and Arinola Oloko (Social Democratic Party Lagos state House of Assembly candidate) as key speakers.

Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi (BOG), Lagos state gubernatorial candidate, was one of the few men who specially graced the occasion.

While giving his remark, Gbadamosi apologised on behalf of men for failing at their duties and encouraged the women not to be deterred by the action of the men.

Gbadamosi apologized to “our mothers, wives and side chicks” which didn’t seem to go down well with a lady in the audience.

The lady in purple shiffon top with low cut immediately interrupted and cautioned BOG for using the term “side chick”.

BOG in turn apologised and went to have his seat as the program continued peacefully.
